House Cleaning Franchises: Why You Don't Need Them
House cleaning franchises, like franchises of all sorts,
offer you the chance to learn the business in a very specific way which
you must follow to keep the franchise. There are training manuals, perhaps
hours of training, people who teach you the company's way of doing things.
Of course, you pay for this. A lot.
This can be good for doing something complicated, like running a computer
store or other business where you need a physical store, a lot of employees,
a huge marketing budget, and a lot of specialized knowledge.
But a franchise for a house
cleaning business is not necessary.
You won't have rent, you don't need employees (though you can have them
if you want), and marketing just isn't that hard. One of the greatest
benefits of starting a cleaning business is that you can do it for very
little money up front and little or no ongoing monthly commitments.
According to the Franchises Consumer Guide from the FTC, it
seems that franchises may not be a good deal at all... in fact, they
may be designed to part suckers from their money. Of course, there
are good franchises, but in reading that FTC guide, I was horrified
at all the ways you have to protect yourself.
Back to something more upbeat...
Thinking about cleaning houses as a business? Good idea...
Instead of going into debt before you start out because
of the cost of a franchise, do take a look at Suze
'n Ev's house cleaning business information.
Suze and Ev, themselves house cleaners for over eight years, publish
several modestly priced ebooks that you can download in a jiffy. (They
explain how to download. It's easy.) Updates are at no additional charge.
Their site also has a lot of great information for free. Of all the
information online about house cleaning, franchises or not, click on
the link to see by far the best one I have found:
